Tanweer Festival 2024: A Dazzling Celebration of Art, Music, and Culture
SHARJAH, 23rd November 2024 (WAM) – The first day of the Tanweer Festival unfolded as a mesmerizing celebration of music, poetry, and art, transforming the historic Mleiha desert into a vibrant cultural haven. Over 2,000 attendees gathered under the stars to experience a unique event envisioned by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, inspired by the profound wisdom of Jalal al-Din Rumi.
Sheikha Bodour opened the festival with a heartfelt speech on the beautifully adorned Main Stage, accompanied by Senegalese artist Senny Camara. Her address emphasized unity, compassion, and awakening the “light within us,” setting a transformative tone for the three-day celebration.
The evening’s highlight was a breathtaking performance by renowned musician Sami Yusuf, who premiered his composition “In Al-Andalus – En al-Ándalus.” His repertoire, including timeless pieces like “Ilahana” and “Madad,” captivated the audience, showcasing his mastery in blending musical traditions.
The day began with a moving performance by the Emirati Heritage Band – Al Nadba, followed by standout acts like Lebanese oud maestro Ziyad Sahhab and Aga Khan laureate Yahya Hussein, accompanied by Julien Breton’s mesmerizing light calligraphy. Anas Alhalabi closed the night with an enchanting handpan performance on the iconic Tree of Life stage.
Beyond performances, the festival offered a vibrant marketplace featuring Emirati crafts and a Nourish Zone brimming with regional delicacies, providing a sensory journey for visitors. Grand art installations and eco-friendly initiatives underscored the event’s commitment to sustainability and cultural heritage.
