Elvis Presley stepbrother blames doctor for icon’s death

David Stanley, the stepbrother of Elvis Presley, has claimed that the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s untimely death in 1977 resulted from actions taken by his personal physician, Dr. George Nichopoulos. Elvis, who passed away at 42 after suffering a heart attack at his Graceland home, allegedly fell victim to overprescription, leading to a deadly dependency on prescription drugs.

Allegations Against Dr. George Nichopoulos

Stanley alleges that Dr. Nichopoulos, commonly known as “Dr. Nick,” supplied Elvis with an astonishing amount of prescription medication in the months before his death. According to Stanley, the doctor prescribed more than 10,000 pills during the final eight months of the singer’s life, a practice Stanley believes accelerated Elvis’s decline.

Speaking to *The Express*, Stanley stated, “Dr. Nick gave him over 10,000 pills in the last eight months of his life. Without Dr. Nick, Elvis would have lived into the 21st century. Dr. Nick would have been imprisoned for what he did.”

Stanley expressed disbelief over the amount of drugs Elvis consumed, saying, “Who needs 33 sleeping pills to go to sleep at night? Who needs cocaine and amphetamines to wake up every day? This level of drug use destroyed his health.”

Elvis Presley Struggles with Isolation and Decline

Stanley highlighted how isolation compounded Elvis’s struggles. The combination of prescription drugs, an unhealthy lifestyle, and extreme loneliness took a severe toll on the music legend’s physical and mental health.

“Fans ask how I can talk about Elvis Presley this way,” Stanley said. “But I watched him go from the King to a man weighing 255 pounds, totally wrecked. He was battling excessive food intake, water imbalance from medication, and mental struggles. I was there during the last five years of his life and saw firsthand how medications were destroying him.”

The Broader Legacy of Elvis Presley

Dr. Nichopoulos faced scrutiny following Elvis’s death. Though he retained his medical license for a few years, it was eventually revoked in 1995 due to unethical practices related to overprescribing medication. Dr. Nick passed away in 2016, leaving behind a legacy tied to one of the most tragic chapters in Elvis’s life.

Elvis’s tragic demise serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of prescription drug misuse, even for those with fame and fortune. Stanley hopes his revelations will shed light on the darker aspects of Elvis’s final years while honoring the star’s enduring legacy in music history.
