The UAE work permit has been simplified as government has taken significant steps to streamline work and residency procedures, enhancing convenience for residents and private-sector companies. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) announced today (Tuesday) that numerous service procedures, requirements, and conditions will be eliminated, dramatically reducing processing time from days to mere minutes, with some processes seeing a 100% reduction.
This move aligns with the UAE’s Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme, initiated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai.
New Work Bundle Launched
A major highlight is the introduction of the Work Bundle, an integrated package designed to facilitate essential services for both private-sector companies and individuals. Through the ‘Work in UAE’ digital platform, users can now complete all work and residency procedures efficiently.
The integration between MoHRE and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) has revolutionized the process of UAE work permit renewals. The need for in-person visits has been eliminated, and what previously took up to two days for processing now receives automatic approval without the need for the four previously required documents.
Enhanced Digital Collaboration
This collaboration has also streamlined the process for cancelling work permits for workers located outside the UAE, deceased individuals, those with contagious diseases, and unused permits—resulting in zero procedures, steps, fields, documents, and processing time.
In partnership with the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council (Nafis) and the General Pension and Social Security Authority, MoHRE has developed an integrated system for issuing, renewing, and cancelling UAE work permits for citizens. This system utilizes seamless data flows among MoHRE, the General Pension and Social Security Authority, and Nafis, facilitating easier access to services offered by the Nafis programme.
Significant Reductions Achieved
The initiative, launched in collaboration with the ICP, Emirates Health Services (EHS), the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), and the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi, has significantly reduced service procedures. The results include:
72% reduction in procedures
93% decrease in required fields
79% fewer required documents
77% reduction in visits
83% faster processing times
These changes mark a substantial improvement in the efficiency of UAE work permit and residency processes, reflecting the country’s commitment to innovation and streamlined digital solutions.
