The UAE National Day celebrations will now officially be known as ‘Eid Al Etihad’, as announced by the event’s organising committee on Tuesday.
The new name, which translates to ‘Festival of the Union’, highlights the core theme of unity and commemorates the unification of the seven emirates on December 2, 1971. This theme embodies the UAE’s national identity, symbolising its heritage, strength, unity, and pride.
What to Expect for the 53rd UAE National Day named as Eid Al Etihad Celebration
Every year on December 2, the UAE hosts grand celebrations, typically attended by the Rulers of the Emirates. While the main venue for this year’s show has not been disclosed, the committee has revealed that there will be various UAE National Day named as Eid Al Etihad zones with special events and activities across all seven emirates.
Last Long Weekend of 2024
The 2024 National Day holiday offers residents the final long weekend of the year. With December 2 and 3 falling on Monday and Tuesday, combined with the weekend, residents can enjoy a four-day break.
Sustainable and Inclusive Celebrations for UAE National Day
Eisa Alsubousi, Director of Strategic and Creative Affairs of the Organising Committee for the 53rd Eid Al Etihad, shared, “We are delighted to invite everyone to partake in this historic occasion, celebrating the unification of the emirates. Comprehensive guides have been developed to inspire and assist in sustainable preparations. Tips for Sustainable Celebrations
The organising committee provided practical tips for residents to participate in a conscious way:
Repurpose existing decorations to minimize waste.
Download sustainable celebration guides to get inspired at home, school, or work.
Recycle or upcycle materials to add an eco-friendly touch to festivities.
“By celebrating mindfully, we can all contribute to making a positive impact,” the organisers noted.
