The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued a red alert on Tuesday as dense fog continued to blanket various parts of the UAE, reducing visibility and prompting safety measures. Residents were warned about significant deterioration in horizontal visibility, which could drop further at times, particularly in some coastal and inland regions until 9:30 a.m.
Abu Dhabi Police advised motorists to exercise caution and adhere to changing speed limits displayed on electronic signboards. The advisory, shared via a post on X, emphasized safe driving practices during these foggy conditions.
Fog has notably enveloped several areas in Abu Dhabi, as shown on maps provided by the NCM. With the UAE transitioning into winter, foggy mornings are becoming more common, contributing to a cooler and more comfortable climate. The NCM had previously issued red alerts over the weekend and on Monday, highlighting the risk of reduced visibility.
While foggy weather was forecast for parts of the UAE today, overall conditions are expected to be generally fair, with partial cloud cover at times. Humid weather is anticipated overnight and into Wednesday morning, with chances of fog or mist forming in coastal and interior regions.
Light to moderate winds are forecast, and the sea conditions are expected to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
