The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has extended its ongoing visa amnesty programme by an additional two months. According to an international news report, the UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security announced the extension of the visa amnesty program yesterday.
Officials in Dubai have confirmed that the amnesty program, initially scheduled to end on October 31, 2024, will now continue until December 31, 2024.
The visa amnesty initiative, which began on September 1, has allowed thousands to regularize their visa status without facing penalties. UAE authorities have confirmed that this extension helps those who have overstayed avoid hefty fines, providing expired visa holders the opportunity to become legal residents without penalties.
Meanwhile, in Kuwait, the Supreme Committee for Nationality Investigations has decided to revoke Kuwaiti citizenship in 489 cases. These cases will now be presented to the Council of Ministers for further action.
Reports indicate that the Supreme Committee for Nationality Investigations convened yesterday under the leadership of First Deputy Prime Minister, Defense Minister, and Interior Minister Sheikh Fahd Youssef Saud Al-Sabah.
According to foreign media, this is the largest case of Kuwaiti citizenship revocation since September 20 of last year, when the committee annulled the citizenship of 112 individuals. Kuwaiti authorities have been actively pursuing cases of fraud and deception, uncovering instances of individuals who had acquired citizenship through fraudulent means.
