UAE Jobs Microsoft AI

According to a senior company official, Microsoft and its partners are set to transform the UAE’s economy by injecting $74.4 billion and creating over 152,500 new jobs.

“Infrastructure is key. We are doubling down on cloud infrastructure and the latest AI technologies, ensuring the UAE remains at the forefront of AI innovation,” said Rima Semaan, Data and AI Lead for Microsoft UAE, during an interview with Khaleej Times at Gitex Global.

 – AI and Cybersecurity –

One of the most key initiatives is the launch of Microsoft’s Engineering Development Centre in Abu Dhabi—the first of its kind in the region. The centre will focus on AI and cybersecurity, highlighting Microsoft’s commitment to advancing cutting-edge technologies in the UAE. This milestone further solidifies the UAE’s leadership in global AI transformation.

As AI continues to revolutionise industries worldwide, the UAE has positioned itself as a pioneer in harnessing AI’s transformative potential.

 – Season two of AI –

In an interview, Microsoft UAE shared its vision for the next phase of AI development—”Season Two”—where generative AI evolves beyond enhancing productivity to fundamentally reshaping business processes, government services, and citizen welfare.

“AI is no longer just a buzzword—it’s a driving force transforming every industry, every organisation, and even every country,” Semaan said. While the first phase of AI deployment focused on chatbots and AI copilots for assisting tasks, the second phase will integrate AI deeply into business processes, making entire systems smarter and more efficient at scale.

This shift marks a new era for businesses and governments, where AI will assist and redefine how organisations operate. It will enable streamlined workflows, optimised decision-making, and cost savings and revenue growth.

 – ‘Sawa’: AI for citizen welfare –

Leading Microsoft’s AI initiatives in the UAE is ‘Sawa,’ a groundbreaking AI solution unveiled at a major tech showcase. Meaning “together” in Arabic, Sawa is designed to enhance the well-being and happiness of UAE residents by acting as a digital companion.

“Sawa is more than a transactional tool—it’s a personal co-pilot for every citizen, addressing everything from healthcare needs to community engagement,” explained Semaan.

For instance, residents can use Sawa to report issues like a broken bench in a park by simply taking a photo. This triggers an AI-powered process that notifies relevant authorities for repair, contributing to the community’s overall happiness index. This integration of AI with public services aims to create smarter, more connected cities, aligning with the UAE’s broader goal to become one of the happiest nations globally.

 – Preparing the workforce for the future –

Central to Microsoft’s vision for AI in the UAE is an ambitious skilling initiative, launched in collaboration with the governments of Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. The programme aims to train 100,000 employees across both government and business sectors, equipping them with the skills needed for the AI-driven future.

“Whether you’re a developer, manager, or general employee, this initiative ensures you’ll have the expertise to embrace AI transformation,” said Semaan.

A standout feature of this programme is the AI Skills Navigator—a dynamic platform that offers personalised learning paths from over 200 resources, including Microsoft Learn, LinkedIn, and GitHub. This approach empowers workers to tailor their AI training based on their specific roles and aspirations, helping to build an AI-enabled workforce ready to lead in the future.

AI-driven future

With Microsoft and the UAE at the forefront of AI transformation, the technology is no longer a distant promise—it is an imminent reality. As the UAE accelerates toward its AI-driven Vision 2030, the fusion of technology and societal progress is becoming a model for other nations to follow.

“We are integrating AI into every facet of life—from boosting productivity to transforming public services and contributing to citizen happiness. The UAE is setting the stage for an AI-driven future, and we are proud to be part of that journey,” added Semaan.

This partnership between Microsoft and the UAE is set to drive unparalleled innovation, establishing new benchmarks for how AI can shape the future of nations. With ambitious goals, cutting-edge infrastructure, and a focus on citizen welfare, the UAE rapidly becomes a global AI hub, leading the world into the next chapter of technological evolution.
