Iconic American brand set to make historic name change after more than 150 years

The Campbell Soup Company’s management is preparing for a major corporate renaming exercise as it looks to rebrand into Campbell’s Company.

The change, which the company said is a result of its evolution and the fact that its portfolio has been transformed, was made on Tuesday and is yet to be approved by shareholders.

Speaking on the issue, CEO Mark Clouse has said that although the new name will have some changes, it will still hold a 155-year legacy hence depicting the company’s diversification from the soup manufacturing business alone. ‘This slight shift preserves our highly recognizable name while more accurately reflecting the scope of our services,’ Clouse said.

The news was made when Campbell presented details of its growth plans during its investor day event. To achieve the steel ambition, the company will concentrate its expansion on 16 crucial categories of snacks, meals, and beverages.

Some of these “leadership brands” are Goldfish; Snyder’s of Hanover; Pepperidge Farm; Campbell’s; Rao’s; Prego; and V8 which accounted for nearly 95% of its operating earnings in fiscal 2024.

It is important to note that after the recent acquisition, the company’s meals and beverages segment is on the right path for growth. In the following year, Campbell yet finished a $2. 7 billion definite deal to acquire Sovos and incorporate distinguished brands such as Rao’s. As much as Campbell’s continues to manufacture soup, the product is not as dominant in the company’s portfolio as it used to be.

Ahead, Campbell is planning to achieve organic net sales growth at a rate of 2% to 3% on an annual basis. This is for the snacks division which is expected to perform better by recording a growth of between 3-4% whereas the meals and beverages division is expected to have minor growth of between 1-2%.
