Hidden cameras used in vanity vans to make obscene videos: Indian actress

Radhika Sarathkumar, a veteran Indian actress for Malayalam films disclosed to the public about the practice of having vanity vans with concealed cameras meant to take pornographic photos of actresses within Malayalam cinema.

These claims have come a time when the MeToo movement has revived especially with the release of Hema Committee report on the happenings in Malayalam film industry.

Radhika, who has acted in a number of Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam films, stated that she herself has seen some of the male actors watching obscene videos on their cell phones, which were apparently taken with hidden cameras on the sets of various films.

The actress shared an example from a film shoot in Kerala where she saw a number of men gazing at a video and laughing. Finally, a careful look made her discover that the video had not been recorded with the knowledge of the actress and was made when the actress was changing clothes.

This shocking realization compelled Radhika to warn other actresses of the presence of hidden cameras in the vanity vans, urging them to protect themselves. Therefore, she and other contestants started moving around designing clothes for changing and showering in the more secure places rather than vanity vans.

Although Radhika did not want to name the two people who watch these videos, she underlined the necessity of actresses to protect themselves in the industry. Her revelations have raised more alarms and have served to enhance awareness and control within the context of the film industry.

The MeToo newscast which has empowered women and shown the world the ordeal that women in the entertainment industry undergo continues with the same energy.
