The country’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert warning about possible urban flooding in various cities due to heavy rains combined with strong winds. Cities such as Lahore, Sialkot, and Narowal are particularly vulnerable in the coming 24 to 48 hours, with a forecasted medium to high-level flood surge anticipated in the Chenab River.
The authority also revealed that Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, and Multan may face urban flooding while Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur are at increased risk of flash floods taking place in hilly streams.
In Khyber district, flood hit the Pak-Afghan Highway in Landikotal tehsil disrupting the traffic.
On the other hand, various districts of Balochistan are flooded by torrential rains, and flash floods have penetrated homes and shops, destroying communication.
Chaman and the whole of northeastern Balochistan are still under the grip of a strong weather system that has compounded the situation.
The NDMA remains vigilant in monitoring the situation and is urging residents in the affected areas to take necessary precautions and remain vigilant.
