Beginning on September 1, individuals with residence visa violations in the UAE can correct their status and go back to their home country without facing penalties, all thanks to an amnesty plan introduced by the UAE government.
This program lets people who have overstayed in the country to resolve their status and exit without being banned, giving them the opportunity to come back to the UAE later on without any limitations.
The ICP will soon provide comprehensive instructions on the steps and criteria for the grace period lasting two months. Immigration professionals and social workers are recommending that individuals who are not in compliance should make use of this amnesty, as it provides an opportunity for a new beginning.
Ali Saeed Al Kaabi, an immigration advisor, stressed that people who resolve their visa status through the amnesty will not be banned and can come back to the UAE at any time.
He recommended that people intending to go back to the UAE should obtain a residency visa or a job offer from a company in the UAE before departing to make their return easier.
Nissar Thalangara, head of the Indian Association in Sharjah, stated following discussions with ICP representatives that individuals breaking rules will not face a ban, unlike past amnesties when overstayers experienced temporary limitations.
Thalangara also pointed out that, unlike previous efforts, there will be no assigned tents or events organized at the immigration offices. Instead of that, approved typing centers throughout the UAE will manage the whole process, increasing accessibility and user-friendliness.
In order to keep the community well-informed, the Indian Association Sharjah will be initiating awareness campaigns. In the previous amnesty, numerous overstayers were not informed about the chance, resulting in extended periods of unlawful residency.
The organization plans to set up a specialized assistance center at their headquarters, available from 9 am to 6 pm.
