UAE weather alert: NCM warns of turbulent conditions and rain

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a yellow alert for Saturday, August 10, cautioning the populace of the United Arab Emirates to brace for turbulent seas and gusty winds.

Winds are anticipated to escalate to velocities of up to 40 kilometers per hour, originating from the northeast. Consequently, the Arabian Gulf is poised to witness waves reaching heights of seven feet at sea level, necessitating the issuance of this advisory.

The NCM urges individuals, especially those engaged in outdoor pursuits, to exercise caution. This advisory will remain in place until 8 a.m. today.

Throughout the United Arab Emirates, the populace can expect a day characterized by fair to partly cloudy skies, interspersed with dust particles. Additionally, the National Centre of Meteorology anticipates the emergence of convective clouds, which may precipitate rainfall in certain eastern and southern locales.

In terms of temperature, the mercury is poised to reach its zenith, with a forecasted high of 49 degrees Celsius in areas such as Mezaira, Gasyoura, and Al Quaa. The cities of Abu Dhabi and Dubai are projected to see temperatures soaring to 46 degrees Celsius and 44 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Conversely, mountainous regions are poised to experience a drop in temperatures, with a low of 22 degrees Celsius anticipated. Humidity levels are expected to fluctuate, ranging from 15% in mountainous terrains to as high as 85% in coastal and island locales.

The weather forecast also anticipates light to moderate winds, punctuated by occasional gusts of fresh air. These conditions are likely to stir up dust and sand. Sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea are expected to be mild to moderate.

On Friday, August 9, the National Centre of Meteorology issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms and rainfall associated with cumulonimbus clouds, in addition to a yellow alert for dust, warning of diminished visibility to less than 3000 meters in certain regions. It is projected that these conditions will persist until 7 p.m. on Friday.
