PIA offers special Independence Day discounts on flights

In celebration of Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced special discounts on ticket prices.

Passengers traveling from Pakistan to Canada or within the country can now enjoy up to a 14% discount on their tickets. This offer is valid for tickets booked by August 14, with travel allowed until November 14.

PIA spokesperson Abdullah Khan shared with Urdu News that the airline introduced this discount to mark the nation’s Independence Day and to provide travelers with affordable and high-quality services. The sale of these discounted tickets has already commenced.

However, this offer is limited to flights to Toronto, Canada, and domestic routes within Pakistan. It does not extend to other popular destinations like Saudi Arabia or the United Arab Emirates. PIA currently operates five flights per week between Pakistan and Toronto.

This promotional move comes as PIA continues to face financial challenges, including significant losses from the suspension of its European operations. The airline’s operations to Europe were halted following concerns over Pakistani pilots’ licenses, leading to a ban that remains in place despite ongoing efforts to lift it.

Nadeem Sharif, a representative of the Pakistan Travel Agents Association, highlighted the importance of PIA regaining its former reputation. He pointed out that while PIA was once a leader in the global airline industry, it has since been surpassed by other carriers.

Sharif praised the Independence Day discount but suggested that extending the offer to routes in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and other Gulf countries could have attracted more passengers, especially since other airlines are offering competitive deals for these destinations.
