Emirati students can now apply for Islamic Studies scholarship

The General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments, and Zakat has announced a new scholarship program for Emirati students interested in pursuing Islamic Studies.

This financial grant is offered in collaboration with Mohammed bin Zayed University for Humanities and is aimed at supporting students in their academic journey while fostering a deeper understanding of Islamic knowledge.

The scholarship program, which will run over the next five years, covers full tuition fees, housing, and transportation. Additionally, students will receive a monthly stipend of Dh6,000 throughout the duration of their studies.

Graduates who successfully complete the program may have the opportunity to work with the General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments, and Zakat.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the scholarship, students must meet specific requirements:

  • A minimum score of 90% in their secondary school certificate.
  • At least 1,200 points in the Arabic language on the Emirates Standardized Test (EmSAT).
  • A score of no less than 950 points in English, or equivalent results in tests like IELTS and TOEFL.
  • Successful completion of a personal interview.

Student Responsibilities

To maintain the scholarship, students are expected to:

  • Keep a GPA of 3.6 or higher.
  • Memorize eight parts of the Quran during the course.
  • Participate in general seminars held by the authority.

Duration of the Scholarship

The scholarship applies to students enrolling within the next five years:

  • For those enrolling in 2024, the scholarship is valid until 2028.
  • For 2025 enrollees, it is valid until 2029, and so forth.

Interested students can apply through the university’s website or via a QR code available on the Awqaf’s social platforms.

This initiative is part of the UAE’s broader effort to develop a well-qualified national workforce capable of enhancing religious awareness, promoting Islamic values, and fostering a culture of tolerance and coexistence.
