A Canadian citizen named Hisham Al Shalah, a resident of Sharjah, has been announced as the new millionaire in the Millennium Millionaire lottery and the Dubai Tax Free surprise.
The ceremony took place on Wednesday at Concourse C at Dubai International Airport.
Alsheleh won the $1 million prize in Series 470 Hazare Millionaire with ticket number 4481, which he bought on July 24 while traveling to Istanbul, Turkey. Alshelh is the 10th Canadian to win the prestigious award since the campaign began in 1999. Although he is not available at the moment, there is no doubt that he will be happy to know about his new prizes.
The draw was conducted by key Dubai Duty Free officials, including Deputy Managing Director Salah Tahlak, Dr. Bernard Creed, SVP of Finance, Michael Schmidt, SVP of Retail, Yasa Tahir, VP of HR, Yousef Al Khalid, VP of HR Service Delivery, Mohamad Al Khaja, VP of Retail Support, Thankachan Varghese, Senior Manager of Retail Support, and Khalid Saleh, Senior Manager of Loss Prevention and Corporate Security.
In addition to Alshelh’s win, Priya Somy, a 35-year-old Indian national based in Dubai, won a Range Rover Sport Dynamic HSE P400 (Santorini Black) car with ticket number 0533 in the Finest Surprise Series 1887.
Somy, a regular participant in the promotion, purchased her ticket on July 18 while traveling to New Delhi, India. She expressed her disbelief and gratitude, saying, “I really can’t believe it right now but thank you so much, Dubai Duty Free.”
Another winner, Taalaibek Rysbaev, a 35-year-old Kyrgyz national based in Dubai, won an Indian FTR X R Carbon (Blue Candy Carbon) motorbike with ticket number 0501 in the Finest Surprise Series 591. Rysbaev, who works for a retail company and is a regular participant in the promotion, bought his winning ticket on his way to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. “Thank you Dubai Duty Free, I am very happy for this win,” he expressed his happiness.
