Dubai Metro introduces separate trip changes

Dubai Metro has introduced distinct journeys for commuters heading to Expo 2020 and UAE Exchange Metro stations along the Red Line from Saturday, August 3.

This adjustment was communicated by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in their official announcement posted on X last Friday.

When traveling to the UAE Exchange or Expo 2020 Metro Station, it’s important for commuters to make sure they get on the right train that will take them to their planned destination. Information about the train routes will be shown on the display screens at Metro stations, and passengers are advised to double-check this information before they get on board.

Earlier in April, RTA had announced that the Dubai Metro Red Line now operates a Y junction, eliminating the requirement for passengers to transfer at Jabal Ali Metro Station. As a result, passengers traveling between Centrepoint and UAE Exchange are no longer required to switch trains at Jabal Ali Interchange Station.

In June, the Dubai Executive Council announced plans for further expansion, with the goal of increasing the number of stations from the current 64 stations spread across 84 square kilometers to 96 stations covering 140 square kilometers by 2030.

The long-term plan is to have 140 stations spanning 228 square kilometers by 2040. This expansion is intended to increase public transport usage to 45 percent across the emirate, lower carbon emissions to 16 tonnes per capita, and improve the efficiency and convenience of sustainable transport.
