India will host the men’s Asia Cup in the T20 format next year, while Bangladesh will host the tournament in a 50-over format in 2027.
According to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), the 2025 tournament will feature six teams: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and a team that will qualify through a qualifying event. The tournament will consist of 13 matches.
Although the dates have not been finalized, sources suggest the tournament could take place in September, after the monsoon season. India’s cricket calendar is packed next year, with a limited-overs series against England in January-February, followed by the Champions Trophy in February-March.
After the IPL, India will tour England from June to August before playing three ODIs and three T20Is in Bangladesh. The Asia Cup is expected to be scheduled between the Bangladesh series and a two-match Test series against the West Indies in October.
No decisions have been made regarding the venues for the Asia Cup in India. The ACC’s Future Tours Program (FTP) 2023-27 indicates no men’s Asian tournament in 2026, but the Women’s Asia Cup will be played in a T20 format that year, along with the men’s U-19 and Emerging Teams Asia Cup.
Last year, the Asia Cup was held in a hybrid model, with Pakistan hosting some matches and India playing all its fixtures in Sri Lanka. Under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, India clinched the title by defeating Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in the final at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
