UAE to bolster cybersecurity with three new policies

The United Arab Emirates is set to strengthen its digital defenses with the introduction of three new cybersecurity policies by the end of 2024.

The move aims to solidify the country’s position as a global leader in technology and artificial intelligence.

Dr. Mohammed Hamad Al Kuwaiti, Chairman of the UAE Cybersecurity Council, announced the upcoming policies, which will focus on safeguarding cloud computing and data, securing the Internet of Things (IoT), and enhancing cybersecurity operations centers.

Additionally, the council plans to release executive regulations for the encryption law before the year’s end, ensuring secure data transmission in the age of quantum computing.

As the UAE undergoes rapid digital transformation across sectors like healthcare, energy, education, and aviation, the need for robust cybersecurity has become paramount.

The country’s vision to become a global data hub necessitates strong legal frameworks and international partnerships to protect sensitive information.

Dr. Al Kuwaiti emphasized the growing cyber threats targeting the UAE, particularly the financial sector. While acknowledging these challenges, he expressed confidence in the country’s ability to repel attacks and maintain global security standards.

By investing in cutting-edge cybersecurity solutions and fostering a culture of digital resilience, the UAE is demonstrating its commitment to protecting its citizens and businesses in the digital age.
