Abu Dhabi introduces new paid parking starting July 29

Starting Monday, July 29, paid parking will be implemented in two areas of Abu Dhabi: Khalifa Commercial District and Etihad Plaza in Khalifa City, as announced by authorities.

The paid parking will cover three sectors: SW2, SE45, and SE48. Sector SE48, located at the Etihad Airways headquarters on Al Mireef Street, includes 694 parking spaces, with 3 reserved for people of determination.

Sector SE45, situated at Etihad Plaza between Al Mireef Street and Al Ibtisamah Street, offers 1,283 parking spaces, including 17 for people of determination.

Sector SW2, located between Al Marmouq Street and Al Qalayid Street, is bordered by Theyab Bin Eissa Street to the north and Al Murahibeen Street to the south, providing 523 parking spaces, with 17 designated for people of determination.

Abu Dhabi Mobility (AD Mobility) stated that the Mawaqif service will be activated in these areas, with all necessary infrastructure and signage already in place. This initiative aims to reduce illegal parking and enhance safety and security.

AD Mobility has also distributed brochures to educate residents and businesses about the new parking system. Mawaqif, the government entity managing parking spaces in Abu Dhabi, categorizes parking zones into premium and standard.

Premium zones (indicated by white and blue signs) charge Dh3 per hour for a maximum of four hours from 8am to 12am. Standard zones (black and blue signs) cost Dh2 per hour or Dh15 for 24 hours, and are free on Sundays and public holidays. Specific charges for the new areas under Mawaqif have yet to be detailed.
