The American University of Sharjah (AUS) has clinched first place in the regional category and secured the third runner-up spot globally in the esteemed Global University Leader Awards.
These awards celebrate universities for their excellence and commitment to offering international opportunities for undergraduate students.
This newly established accolade, part of the renewed Global Undergraduate Awards, acknowledges institutions that provide students with diverse global experiences to broaden their horizons and enhance their academic and professional growth.
Dr. James Griffin, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Affairs and Instruction at AUS, expressed pride in the university’s long-standing engagement with the Global Undergraduate Awards since 2016.
“Our students consistently showcase their exceptional talent and dedication, earning recognition each year in various categories.We are thrilled to be acknowledged by the Global University Leader Awards for our efforts. We remain committed to offering our students opportunities that foster both academic and professional development,” he said.
Dr. Tod Laursen, Chancellor of AUS, highlighted the significance of this recognition in reinforcing AUS’s dedication to global engagement and academic excellence. “The student experience is a cornerstone of our institution.
This award is a testament to our commitment to cultivating meaningful relationships and creating opportunities for our students to excel both inside and outside the classroom. We are proud of their successes and will continue to provide diverse opportunities for their growth,” he remarked.
AUS students have a history of being recognized at the Global Undergraduate Awards across different categories.
Last year, 12 AUS students received accolades, including alumnus Arian Saghfafifar, who won the global award in the visual arts category for his graphic novel.
