Exploring new horizons: UAE travelers flock to lesser-known destinations

With summer in full swing, residents in the UAE are ditching the familiar for the fresh and exciting as they plan their vacations. Travel experts are seeing a surge in interest for lesser-known destinations that offer unique experiences and diverse attractions.

New Zealand’s stunning scenery and wintery charm are proving to be a big draw this year. “Europe is scorching, while New Zealand offers a cool escape,” says Dhas Antony, Founder of Rejoice Tourism. “Plus, it’s a whole new continent to explore!”

For those seeking sun-drenched paradise, exotic beach destinations are a hot pick. Pristine shores in Zanzibar, Kenya’s untamed wilderness, and the turquoise waters of Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea are all luring sun-worshippers.

“Travellers are looking beyond the usual suspects like Thailand and Bali,” says Raheesh Babu, COO of Musafir.com. “Zanzibar offers pristine beaches and cultural immersion, while Kenya provides an unforgettable encounter with nature.”

Eastern Europe is also getting a taste of the limelight, with Latvia and Slovenia piquing the interest of adventurous travelers. “While many still choose popular European destinations, a growing number, around 20-25%, are eager to explore new territories,” says Babu.

Travel preferences also vary based on nationality. Filipino residents, for example, are leaning towards familiar grounds in Asia, Australia, and North America. “Easy visa access makes the Maldives and CIS countries popular choices, while others are drawn to the cultural richness of Japan and East Asia,” explains Geoffrey Salatan, CEO of Geof Travel. “We’re also seeing a rise in inquiries for New Zealand, Australia, and Canada, perfect escapes for the UAE’s summer heat.”

For those seeking a grand adventure, the United States remains a top contender. Summer holidays offer the chance for extended stays, allowing travelers to explore the vast country and reconnect with family. “The USA caters to every kind of traveler, with its diverse landscapes and countless attractions,” says Babu. Travel agents have reported a 10% increase in demand for US trips from UAE residents.

So, if you’re a UAE resident planning your summer escape, ditch the usual haunts and consider venturing off the beaten path. With a world of exciting destinations waiting to be explored, your next adventure awaits!
