In a tragic incident near a mosque in Wadi Al Kabir, Muscat, at least four Pakistanis were killed and 30 others wounded by gunfire, Omani police reported on Tuesday.
The Pakistani foreign ministry confirmed the fatalities, noting that two Pakistani nationals were among those killed in the attack.
In an official statement, Pakistani authorities expressed their commitment to assisting in the aftermath. “Our Embassy in Oman remains in contact with Omani authorities for the identification and repatriation of the mortal remains of the two Pakistanis who perished in the attack.
It has also opened a helpline to respond to queries from the community and to facilitate them in Oman,” the statement said.
Pakistan has offered full support to Omani authorities in the ongoing investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice. Ambassador Imran Ali visited local hospitals to check on the well-being of injured Pakistanis. Earlier, he urged citizens to avoid traveling to Wadi Al Kabir, stating that the area had been cordoned off for safety.

Additionally, arrangements have been made to facilitate blood donations for those in need. The embassy is coordinating closely with local hospitals and authorities.
The US Embassy in Muscat also issued a security alert, advising American citizens in Oman to stay vigilant, monitor local news, and follow directions from local authorities.
Omani police have assured that all necessary security measures are in place and that investigations are ongoing to uncover the details of the incident. The area remained cordoned off on Tuesday, with journalists unable to access the mosque.
