Cycling and e-scooter enthusiasts in Hatta are in for a treat as Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed the construction of a new 4-kilometer shared track dedicated to these modes of transport.
This addition marks a significant boost to Hatta’s infrastructure and aims to promote a healthier, more sustainable lifestyle.
The new track, which spans from the Hatta Community Centre to Almasiaf, includes two rest areas for cyclists and scooter riders to relax and enjoy the scenic surroundings. With this development, the total length of cycling tracks in Hatta has increased by a substantial 50% to 13.5 kilometers.
To complement the new cycling and scooter tracks, RTA has also constructed a 2.2-kilometer walking path, providing ample space for pedestrians to explore the area. Additionally, a new parking lot with a capacity of 135 vehicles has been built near Wadi Leem Lake, along with improved access roads.
“The aim is to create an integrated transport system that caters to the needs of cyclists, pedestrians, and motorists,” said Hussain Al Banna, CEO of Traffic and Roads Agency at RTA. “By providing dedicated tracks, rest areas, and ample parking, we hope to encourage more people to choose sustainable modes of transportation.”
To enhance safety and convenience, RTA has also installed new traffic signs and directional markers throughout the area.
These improvements are part of Dubai’s ongoing efforts to develop Hatta into a thriving tourist destination. The new cycling and walking tracks are expected to attract more visitors and encourage outdoor activities in the picturesque region.
