UAE slashes work permit cancellation time to 45 seconds

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has made life significantly easier for businesses by slashing worker permit cancellation times to a lightning-fast 45 seconds.

This upgrade, part of the second phase of the Work Bundle platform, eliminates the need for any paperwork whatsoever.

Previously, cancelling a work permit could take up to 3 minutes and involved submitting two documents. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) announced the changes on Monday, July 8th, emphasizing their commitment to hassle-free procedures.

Here’s how Mohre streamlined the process:

  • Zero Documents Required: No more paperwork headaches!
  • Automatic Approvals: No waiting for approvals – it’s instant.
  • Simplified Forms: Less information to fill out – just two fields.
  • Blazing-Fast Speed: Cancellations completed in just 45 seconds.

This is a major win for businesses in the UAE. The Work Bundle platform, a collaboration between several government entities, is designed to simplify the entire employee lifecycle for companies. Launched initially in Dubai in March, it’s now available across all seven emirates.

The second phase of Work Bundle is expected to benefit a massive number of people. With over 600,000 companies and more than seven million workers in the UAE, this streamlined system will save countless hours and reduce administrative burdens.

Before Work Bundle, obtaining work permits and residency visas could take up to 30 days. Now, it’s a five-day process across the entire country.

What services does Work Bundle offer?

This user-friendly platform offers a one-stop shop for various work and residency procedures, including:

  • Issuing new work permits
  • Requesting employment status adjustments
  • Issuing visas and employment contracts
  • Obtaining Emirates IDs, residency permits, and medical examinations
  • Renewing employment contracts, Emirates IDs, and residencies
  • Cancelling employment contracts, work permits, and residencies

The Work Bundle initiative is a significant step forward for the UAE’s business environment. By simplifying procedures and reducing processing times, the government is fostering a more attractive and efficient market for both companies and workers.
