Renowned playwright and writer Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar recently sparked controversy by criticizing actress Saba Qamar’s choice of attire.
In a candid discussion on a podcast, he labeled Saba Qamar’s clothing as “absurd” and expressed that he would not work with her again.
During the podcast, a video clip of Qamar discussing Saba Qamar went viral on social media, where he described her dress sense as “obscene.”
When asked which actors or actresses he would prefer not to collaborate with in the future, Qamar specifically mentioned Saba Qamar. He stated, “I don’t think I will ever work with Saba Qamar again.”
Despite his harsh criticism, Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar acknowledged Saba Qamar’s talent, praising her acting skills and performance in his serial. However, he emphasized that her choice of clothing does not align with his values as a dramatist.
He clarified that while the actress has the right to choose her attire, he also has the right to decide whether to cast her in his projects based on his personal and cultural ethics.
This is not the first time the famous playwright has made controversial remarks about actresses.
He has previously commented on Saba Qamar’s dress sense and has criticized other actresses, including Mahira Khan and Mamet. Moreover, Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar has faced backlash for his harsh language against women and his criticism of the organizers of the Aurat March, a women’s rights movement in Pakistan.
