UAE begins Emiratisation compliance checks for private firms on July 1

Starting July 1, the UAE authorities will begin checking if private companies have met their Emiratisation targets for the first half of 2024.

Companies with 50 or more employees that haven’t increased their Emirati workforce by 1 percent over the last six months will face fines.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) confirmed that June 30 was the deadline for meeting these mid-year targets. Companies failing to comply will be fined Dh8,000 per month for each Emirati they were supposed to hire but didn’t.

The Emiratisation policy mandates that private companies in the UAE must increase their Emirati employees by 2 percent every year.

By the end of last year, firms needed to have 4 percent Emiratis on their payrolls. By the end of June this year, this requirement rose to 5 percent. Companies must ensure that 6 percent of their workforce is Emirati before the end of 2024.
