Starting July 1, Dubai Mall will implement a new paid parking system in select areas, with tariffs reaching up to Dh1,000 for 24-hour parking.
This move aims to streamline parking and enhance convenience for visitors through a barrier-free system operated by Salik Company PJSC, Dubai’s exclusive toll gate operator.
Paid and Free Parking Zones
The paid parking system will apply to the Fashion, Grand, and Cinema parking zones. However, Zabeel and Fountain View parking areas will remain free.
Exemptions and Free Parking
People of Determination (PoD) are exempt from parking fees, but they must apply for the exemption via Salik’s channels. Vehicles that are exempt from Salik tolls, including police, ambulances, and civil defense, will also be exempt from parking fees at Dubai Mall. Currently, senior citizens and residents do not qualify for parking fee exemptions.
Parking Fees and Payment
Parking fees are calculated based on the number of hours spent in the parking zones. On weekdays (Monday to Thursday), the first four hours are free, followed by a tiered tariff system. The maximum fee is Dh1,000 for a 24-hour period. On weekends (Friday to Sunday), the first six hours are free. The fees are deducted from the motorist’s Salik account upon exit. Motorists need an activated Salik tag and account to use the parking facilities.
System Operation and Notifications
When a vehicle enters a paid parking zone, cameras capture the plate number, and the Salik system records the entry time. Upon exit, the system calculates the fees based on the time spent and deducts the amount from the Salik account. Motorists are advised to monitor their Salik account balance to avoid insufficient funds, which would result in pending parking transactions.
Dispute and Fine Information
In case of any disputes over parking fees, motorists can contact Salik customer service via email or phone. Any unpaid parking fees will be automatically deducted once the Salik account is recharged.
Salik tags can be purchased online or at petrol stations across the UAE. The parking fees will only be deducted from the Salik account, with no option for separate payment methods. Statements will include both toll and parking transactions, but they will be itemized separately.
