Planning a trip to the UAE from Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, or Saudi Arabia? There are some new things to keep in mind!
The UAE recently announced that GCC residents now require an e-visa to enter the country. This electronic visa is quick and easy to obtain online, but there are a few details to iron out before your visit.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Get an e-visa: All GCC residents must apply for an e-visa before traveling to the UAE. The visa allows you to stay for 30 days, with the option to extend it for another 30 days if needed.
- Online application: You can apply for the e-visa through the official website of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs-Dubai (GDRFA) or the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP).
- Visa by email: Once approved, your e-visa will be sent directly to your email address.
Traveling with family or staff?
- Sponsor requirement: Family members, domestic workers, or escorts traveling with GCC residents or citizens must be accompanied by their sponsor to enter the UAE.
- GCC citizen visas: GCC citizens have a slightly longer validity period. Their entry permit is valid for 60 days from the date of issue, with a 60-day stay in the UAE, also extendable for an additional 60 days.
Important reminders:
- Valid residency and passport: Make sure your residency permit and passport have at least three months of validity remaining when you arrive in the UAE.
- Up-to-date residency: Your GCC residency must be active and not expired or cancelled to enter the UAE.
- No job change: If you change jobs after applying for the visa, you may not be allowed to enter the country.
