Indian Airlines issue advisory for passengers traveling to UAE

In light of recent travel updates for visitors from India to the UAE, several Indian airlines have released guidelines to ensure a smooth travel experience. These advisories have been communicated to travel agents in both India and the UAE.

An Air India Express spokesperson confirmed to Khaleej Times that the airline has issued an advisory urging passengers to carry essential documents such as valid passports, return tickets, accommodation details, and financial proof. Specifically, travelers must ensure their passports are valid for at least six months from the date of entry into the UAE.

The advisory detailed that visitors must have a confirmed return ticket and proof of hotel reservation. Additionally, travelers should carry or have access to Dh3,000 (approximately Rs68,000) for a one-month visa and Dh5,000 for longer stays. They should also have additional documents if they are staying with relatives or friends who are UAE residents.

Travel agents in India and Dubai have reported receiving similar advisories from multiple airlines, including SpiceJet and Air India. Taha Siddique, owner of Siddique Travels, mentioned that these guidelines are meant to equip travelers with necessary documents and funds for hassle-free travel.

SpiceJet’s circular warned passengers to carry all required documents to avoid the risk of deportation. The advisory emphasized that passengers without the necessary documents would be denied boarding at the departure airport, with related charges debited to the ticketing agency.

“We will have to bear the expenses of the return if our client is denied entry in the UAE airports. So we make sure that they have all the related documents before we book their tickets,” said Siddique.

According to Deepak Kaushik, operations manager at ToursOnBoard, travelers are now more cautious and prepared, ensuring they have all required documents. Bharath Aidasani, managing partner at Pluto Travels, highlighted that if a traveler is denied entry to the UAE, the airline is responsible for returning them to their home country, prompting rigorous document checks before issuing boarding passes.

Firoz Maliyakkal, founder and CEO of Tahira Tours and Travels, noted that airline executives thoroughly check documents at check-in counters. Failure to produce the necessary documents may result in travelers being sent back or asked to obtain the documents before boarding.

By adhering to these guidelines, passengers can ensure a smoother travel experience and avoid potential issues at both departure and arrival points.
