The UAE’s leaders joined the nation’s Muslims in celebrating Eid Al Adha on Sunday, June 16, with prayers and festive rituals. Known as the Feast of Sacrifice, Eid Al Adha is the most revered of the two major Islamic festivals, marked by special prayers and the sacrifice of livestock such as goats, cows, sheep, or camels.
President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed extended his warm wishes to the country’s leaders, citizens, and residents. In a social media post, he said, “I wish my brothers, the Rulers of the Emirates, citizens and residents of the UAE, and Muslims around the world a blessed Eid Al Adha. May God grant peace to all and bring us together in the spirit of harmony and unity.”
High-profile leaders including Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice-President and Deputy Prime Minister, and Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, performed the Eid prayers at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. Joining them were Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance.
In Sharjah, Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, along with Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, offered their prayers at the Sharjah Mosque.
Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, performed the prayers at Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Mosque in Ajman, accompanied by Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, and other dignitaries.
Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, observed the prayers at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Fujairah with his son, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah.
In Umm Al Quwain, Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, performed the Eid prayers at Ahmed bin Rashid Al Mualla Mosque. He was joined by Sheikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain, and other local leaders.
Finally, Sheikh Saud bin Saqr, along with his son Mohammed bin Saud, performed the prayers in Ras Al Khaimah, accompanied by various dignitaries and community members.
The celebrations across the UAE reflected a sense of unity and devotion, as leaders and citizens alike came together to mark this important religious occasion.
