The Department of Islamic Affairs in Sharjah has announced the allocation of 640 musallas and mosques across the Emirate for Eid Al Adha prayers, continuing its tradition of facilitating religious practices.
In preparation for Eid Al Adha, the department has designated prayer areas for Eid prayers and public squares, along with mosques where Friday prayers are held. This initiative aims to revive the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and accommodate worshippers across Sharjah.
The Department of Islamic Affairs has allocated a total of 640 musallas (designated prayer areas) and mosques across the Emirate. This includes public squares, existing mosques where Friday prayers are held, and even special spaces for non-Arabic speakers.
This initiative reflects the department’s commitment to reviving the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and providing a convenient experience for worshippers. They’ve emphasized close collaboration with local authorities like the Sharjah Police and Municipality to ensure everything runs smoothly.
The 640 musallas and mosques are spread across Sharjah City, Al Hamriyah, the Central Region, and the Eastern Region, ensuring easy access for residents in all areas. Additionally, some locations will cater to non-Arabic speakers with services offered in Urdu, Malayalam, Tamil, and English. For those with hearing impairments, the Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal Mosque in Al Jazzat will offer instant sign language translation of the Eid sermon.
“We prioritize the care and upkeep of mosques to facilitate religious practices and create a comfortable atmosphere for worshippers,” said His Excellency Abdullah Khalifa Yaroof Al Suboosi, Chairman of the Department of Islamic Affairs. Specialized teams have been working diligently to prepare the prayer areas and surrounding spaces to accommodate large crowds. Cooling systems and sound systems have also been installed for a more comfortable experience.
Mosques will be open after Fajr prayers on Eid Al Adha to welcome worshippers. Prayer times will vary slightly across different regions, ranging from 5:41 AM to 5:44 AM.
Looking beyond Eid, the department has planned a series of educational lectures and lessons in mosques throughout the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah. These sessions will cover important topics like the significance of good deeds during this period, the rules and requirements for animal sacrifice (Udhiyah), and the traditions associated with Eid celebrations. This program aims to enhance religious knowledge and understanding within the diverse Sharjah community, including its expatriate residents.
By providing ample prayer locations, catering to diverse needs, and offering educational programs, the Department of Islamic Affairs is working towards a smooth and spiritually enriching Eid Al Adha experience for everyone in Sharjah.
