Sheikh Sultan unveils plan for two mountain-top football stadiums in Sharjah

Sharjah, a United Arab Emirates emirate known for its stunning landscapes, is about to take things to a whole new level. The Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, recently announced the construction of two brand new football stadiums – perched atop mountains!

The UAE is famous for its sunshine, but it can also get quite hot and humid. These mountaintop stadiums aim to address that challenge. By building at high altitudes, Sheikh Dr. Al Qasimi explained, they’re looking to create a “humidity-free atmosphere” with a cooler climate. The cooler temperatures, around 10 degrees lower than down below, will improve playing conditions for the footballers.

Soaring High for Kalba and Khor Fakkan Clubs

The new stadiums won’t just be about the view; they’re dedicated to specific teams. Kalba Club will have their home field at a staggering 850 feet above sea level, while Khor Fakkan Club will take the even higher ground at a mighty 900 feet.

This exciting announcement comes alongside praise from Sheikh Dr. Al Qasimi for the emirate’s existing clubs. He commended their performance during the 2023-2024 ADNOC Professional League season, highlighting Sharjah’s commitment to fostering a thriving football scene.

Sharjah’s Mountain Majesty Meets the Beautiful Game

The unique mountaintop stadiums promise to be a game-changer for Sharjah’s football culture. Imagine cheering on your favorite team amidst the scenic mountain ranges, with a refreshing breeze and cooler temperatures. This innovative project is sure to attract not only football fans but also those seeking a truly unforgettable sporting experience.
