In a bid to reduce the alarming number of road accidents, the Ras Al Khaimah Police have launched a timely campaign, “Beware! Your Life is More Important”, to warn drivers against the dangers of sudden lane changes and swerving.
The initiative, rolled out by the Traffic and Patrols Department and the Traffic Awareness and Information Branch, aims to educate motorists on the importance of staying focused on the road and avoiding distractions while driving.
The police have identified the main culprits behind swerving – using phones, browsing social media, and taking photos while driving – which can lead to loss of control, devastating accidents, and even fatalities. To tackle this, the authorities are urging drivers to keep their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel, avoiding reckless lane changes and adhering to designated lanes and speed limits.
The campaign comes with a stern warning – lane indiscipline and swerving can attract a fine of Dh200, which can increase if the violation leads to an accident or other offenses. The police are urging drivers to prioritize safety and safeguard lives and property.
By launching this campaign, the Ras Al Khaimah Police are reinforcing the Ministry of Interior’s strategy to enhance security and safety on the roads. The message is clear – stay focused, stay safe. Let’s work together to make our roads safer for everyone.
