In a move to bolster Dubai’s economy, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched the Dubai Commercial and Logistics Land Transport Strategy 2030, a comprehensive plan aimed at boosting the sector’s contribution to the emirate’s economy by a staggering Dh16.8 billion in just six years.
Unveiling the strategy, Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, RTA, explained that the plan focuses on regulating and governing the commercial transport sector, identifying innovative opportunities, and fostering partnerships with the private sector.
The strategy comprises 17 projects designed to support the growth of companies, increase competitiveness, and encourage the adoption of cutting-edge technologies. Some key projects include:
- Developing digital platforms for commercial transport and logistics
- Introducing value-added permits and no-objection certificates
- Creating a heavy freight services platform and a road freight data center
- Updating heavy and light truck fleets and introducing tachographs for heavy trucks
- Introducing autonomous vehicles and towing trucks
- Establishing a commercial transport and logistics forum and a National Committee for Small Vehicles
By harnessing the power of data and technology, Dubai aims to create a more efficient, sustainable, and innovative transport sector that benefits both businesses and individuals.
With this strategy, Dubai is poised to cement its position as a global logistics hub and a leader in transport innovation.
