All about getting vehicle permit for road trips outside UAE

Are you planning a cross-country road trip from Dubai? Whether you’re a UAE citizen or an expat, a Tourist Vehicle Certificate is essential for a hassle-free journey.

This certificate ensures your vehicle meets safety and regulatory standards, allowing you to travel across state lines without legal obstacles.

Eligibility and validity

UAE citizens, GCC nationals, residents, diplomats, companies, governmental entities, and diplomatic bodies in Dubai can apply for this service. The certificate is valid for six months.

Service fees and required documents

Fees range from Dh100 to Dh200, depending on the vehicle type. You’ll need to submit documents such as:

  • Emirates ID
  • eNOC from the Automobile & Touring Club of the UAE (ATCUAE)
  • Memorandum of Association (for companies)
  • Trade Licence copy (for companies)
  • Driver’s Emirates ID and Driving Licence

Applying for the Vehicle Permit

Residents can apply online through the RTA website or visit Customer Happiness Centres and Vehicle Registration and Inspection Centres across Dubai.

Terms and conditions

  • Settle all traffic fines before applying
  • If the vehicle is mortgaged, provide an eNOC from the mortgagor
  • The customer or legal representative must be present in person
