Speed limit reduced on on Sharjah’s Al Ittihad and Al Wahda Roads

The speed limit on several stretches of Sharjah’s Al Wahda Road and Al Ittihad Road has been lowered from 100 km/h to 80 km/h in an effort to improve traffic flow and road safety.

The Sharjah Roads and Transportation Authority and the General Command of Sharjah Police jointly announced this adjustment on Saturday.

Between the Al Wahda Road intersection at Abu Shaghara and the Al Taawun Bridge on Al Ittihad Road, there is a new speed restriction in effect. According to a statement released by the Authority on its X (formerly Twitter) account, the goal of this step is to better control traffic and lower the risk of accidents.

This decision comes after a similar one that was announced in November 2023, when the speed limit was similarly dropped from 100 km/h to 80 km/h between the Al Garhoud Bridge in Dubai and the Sharjah-Dubai border. These modifications are a part of a larger effort to raise the region’s standards for road safety.

The modification, according to the Sharjah Roads and Transportation Authority, is a component of continuous initiatives to make driving safer for all users of the road. The new speed restrictions will be efficiently enforced to preserve orderly traffic movement thanks to the partnership with Sharjah Police.

It is recommended that locals and travelers follow the new speed restrictions and be informed of any upcoming announcements from the Sharjah Roads and Transportation Authority. Drivers may make the road a safer place for everyone by abiding by these rules.
